About
From Matt Bilsky
Matt has a Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. from Lehigh University focused on smart product design, Technical Entrepreneurship, and mechatronics. He holds two additional Lehigh degrees: a BS in Mechanical Engineering (9/12) with an Electrical Engineering minor and a Master of Engineering degree also in Mechanical Engineering (5/14). Ever since he was a child Matt has been an innovator. In his basement shop he designed and built numerous gadgets and tinkered with every toy he had. Warranty void stickers were an invitation to see what makes a device work. In 2003 he started his first company, Mattcomp Services LLC, offering computer repair, networking, home theater, and handyman services. He also created a web hosting company in 2005, Mattcomp Hosting, including all necessary back-end components on dedicated servers.
In late 2013 he founded Impossible Incorporated LLC to commercialize his passion and experience in Engineering Design and Development. Combining skills in the Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering fields along with a design background and construction industry experience Impossible Incorporated is able to provide its customers with novel, outside-the-box solutions to life’s it would be nice if… problems. Their first product, also Matt’s dissertation work, is a novel snake-like robot that can drive, drill, and see inside walls to run wires without the mess. It won second place in the 2016 Lemelson/MIT consumer product invention competition in addition to receiving numerous other grants and awards.
At Lehigh Matt fostered his talents in the smart product field. His undergraduate research, under Professor Hart, consisted of developing a method for programming microcontrollers using MATLAB/Simulink for the Hopper Google Lunar X-Prize vehicle. He also wrote and teaches the undergraduate Mechatronics Lab course, ME 374, during summer 2012. He was the professor for the Technical Entrepreneurship capstone course before leaving to work for his start-up full time.
In May 2010, Matt became superintendent of properties for Fifth Street Capital Partners who at the time owned approximately 15 off-campus Lehigh student rental properties. Over the next 5 years he provided maintenance and construction management services helping the company to grow to their current size of over 35 houses and an apartment building. Matt has worked as a river guide and trip leader for Pocono Whitewater in Jim Thorpe, PA since 2009 where he instructs and leads 120+ guests and 3 staff members down class II/III whitewater. Additionally, he leads the company’s premiere trip, the Big Day Out, taking guests through 25 miles of biking, 2 hours of hiking, and 10 miles of rafting. Matt is an avid skier clocking 60+ days a year on the hill while also working as a race official for the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Atlantic Highlands Conference.
Matt is a licensed Professional Engineer and EMT in addition to being an Eagle Scout.
